Matched betting involves placing two bets on the same event (A.K.A the 'qualifying bet' and 'bonus bet') to cover all outcomes.  This means that once the event concludes, we don't win anything and we don’t lose anything, but we have unlocked the generous promo offered by sportsbook. We then repeat this same process on a new game using our promo to lock in our profit.

Step 1:
Place the qualifying bet

Let's look at a typical sportsbook promotional offer:
Bet $25 to get a $25 bonus bet.

We will use an NBA game as our example bet.
Phoenix Suns vs New Orleans Pelicans.

One of two outcomes can occur in this match – either Phoenix Suns will win the game, or New Orleans Pelicans will win the game. The eventual outcome doesn’t matter to us because we are betting on both teams to win.

By placing the two bets, at separate sportsbooks, we cover both outcomes of the event.

Using this method we have won nothing and lost nothing but we have now qualified for the bonus bet bonus without risking any of our own money.

At the end of the event we will have qualified for our $25 bonus bet with either a small loss of $0.38 or a small profit of $0.50. 

We can now move onto the bonus bet part, where we use the bonus we have just unlocked to make some cash.

Step 2:
Place the bonus bet

Now that we have a bonus bet available we can repeat the above process, but this time we can lock in profit.

Let’s use an NBA game as our example once again. 
Clippers vs Cavaliers.

We place our $25 bonus bet on Clippers to win.
Then we place an opposing bet at another sportsbook on the Cavaliers to win.

No matter what happens with our two bets we will make a PROFIT!

If bet 1 wins we will make $17.75 and if bet 2 wins we will make slightly more with a profit of $17.84
